How to choose a food mill for your baby

By

A baby’s dietary need changes from month to month. The bigger she gets the more nutrients her body needs. Experts suggest that although infant formula or breast milk is a baby’s primary food, it is imperative that she is introduced to solid food as early as three months. But of course, the baby cannot chew solid food. This is why food mills specifically designed for this purpose were created.

In its simplest terms, a baby food mill is manufactured to help mothers prepare food in the most proper texture for their babies. Pediatricians all agree that the best solid foods for babies are vegetables that are stewed. In order to achieve this, a baby food mill is the most appropriate appliance for the household.

If you are a new parent, here is a list of how to choose a baby food mill.

  1. Small in size. In general, baby food mills are small. However, when you are on a department store you might be tempted to buy the biggest in size as they look attractive to use. If your purpose is only to grind solid food for your baby, settle strictly on a baby food mill.
  2. Easy to clean. Choose baby food mills with appearances that you think makes tidying the food mill effortless. When you want one with this attribute, opt for food mills that don’t require outlets to function. You should know that working on feeding your baby with solid food requires you to use it many times in a day as babies get hungry every two hours at a minimum.
  3. Safety lids. Electrical baby food mills usually come with safety lids that helps avid food from coming out when grinding. They may also function as serving bowls as well. That allows you to wash the food mill less often.
  4. Travel-friendly. For traveling intentions, it is best to buy food mills that do not function on power. They will be ideal to bring on long vacations or on an outing with friends.
